Zambian international Lazarous Kambole is said to have agreed terms with the Soweto giants and has already spoken about linking up with Amakhosi’s star man Khama Billiat.
The 25-year-old Zesco United forward, who has previously been linked with a move to Orlando Pirates, has bagged 48 goals in the last two seasons for the club and could just be the man Amakhosi are looking for to score regularly, having struggled to find a reliable goalscorer in Leonardo Castro, Bernard Parker Ryan Moon and Gustavo Paez.
Castro and Moon are set to leave the club, while Paez has already parted ways with the Soweto giants and could either join Golden Arrows or Maritzburg United.
Chiefs finished the campaign with a poor record of 33 goals in 30 matches.
“There are a lot of clubs interested in me, so I’m not so sure. Kaizer Chiefs is one of them,” Kambole told SABC radio.
“There’s Simba from Tanzania and there is another team from Angola and other teams from South Africa, which is Orlando Pirates and AmaZulu. I think the most important thing is what you bring on the table, because football is business. So whoever who is going to come with a good offer, then that’s where I will go.”
Kambole feels he can handle the pressure of playing for a club like Chiefs.
“Even at Zesco there’s pressure, so I’m used to that. I’m prepared mentally, they know what I’m capable of. I know the pressure at Kaizer Chiefs and I’m equal to the task.”
Kambole said he is good friends with Billiat.
“We are good friends.”
